Vegan Gravy

Think gravy is off the menu now that you’re a vegetarian?  My vegan gravy recipe will surprise you.  In fact, this gravy is so delicious that even meat eaters are bound to be impressed, and may not even believe you when you tell them that this rich, creamy topping is in fact a vegetarian gravy recipe.  It’s fast and easy to prepare, and makes a great addition to your meals!

1 vegetable bullion cube
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp soy sauce
½ tsp mustard
1 tbsp vegan butter
Salt and pepper

1. Combine all of your ingredients in a sauce pan over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil. Note that you can vary the amounts of most of the ingredients according to taste. You might prefer a little more or less of some of the spices, like the garlic powder and soy sauce. You also might try using more or less flour. Anywhere from ¼ cup to ½ cup can have good results. Aim for the texture that you like.
2. Reduce the heat on the stove to medium low. Cook until done. This recipe usually takes only a few minutes to cook.
