FEATURED POST
Our Featured Post this week comes from Amanda Rose at Traditional-Foods.com. Amanda has a wealth of knowledge regarding nutrients found in various foods and regularly shares various food profiles on her blog. In last week’s Freaky Friday blog carnival, Amanda posted a profile about Cumin. Cumin is one of my all-time favorite spices. The flavor, aromatics, and nutrients packed in this little seed are phenomenal! This week I linked back to Amanda’s cumin post referencing all her fantastic information for my skin care alternative’s post. Cumin truly is a multipurpose spice! Thanks for the GREAT post Amanda!
Are you a FREAK? We are. We are REAL FOOD FREAKS and we are not ashamed! Freaky Friday’s are your day to write a comment or blog about why you are a freak, what you did this week that made someone think you were a freak, or post your FREAKY REAL FOOD RECIPES. If you post a freaky recipe, please make it freaky by it being your OWN recipe. From time to time I will post a good recipe someone else has shared. However, FREAKY FRIDAYS are about what make you UNIQUE! Feel free to take a basic recipe and tweak it. But it has to be YOUR CREATIVE UNIQUE recipe. Got it? Are we clear? You also must post REAL FOOD. If you are not sure if your recipe has fake food ingredients, please do not post. You may want to spend some time reading through our blogs to get a sense for what we believe to be REAL and FAKE.
PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO OUR NEW RULE REGARDING PRODUCT PROMOS. Giveaways are ok to post, but we will no longer allow you to post product promo posts in which the only purpose is to gain income. There must be an educational purpose for any blog posted on Freaky Friday. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Here are the rules:
1. Everyone who posts place a link back to this blog. You will be removed if you don’t link back.
2. REAL FOOD only! No processed, canned, margarine, hydrogenated vegetable oils, unfermented soy, etc.
3. NEW RULE: Please, no product promos! Feel free to post giveaways here, but if you are selling a product or gain from the sale of any item please do not post it here.
4. Please help us by a Retweet and Facebook link to this page and any sites you visit! Be sure to comment on others posts as well and let the bloggers know you were there.
5. Please leave a brief comment about your post. If this is your first time commenting on our blog, you will have to wait to be moderated just this one time.
If you don’t have a blog we still want to hear from you! Please leave your tips or recipes in the comments.
Thank you!

Thank you for hosting! I shared a Creamy Herb Dressing (vegan) recipe that is SO delicious. The “cream” base is ground sprouted sunflower seeds. Thanks again.

Good morning from Germany! Just found this lovely link carnival, and linked up to a post telling part of my own real food story (I’m just getting into the whole real food thing) as well as some thoughts about the first real foods book I’ve read–Real Foods for Mother and Baby by Nina Planck. Nice to be in such good company.

Thanks for the great post . . . I am so glad you understood my new rule about the promo. Your post is exactly what we want and not someone just posting a link to a purchase (which we have had). I love the way you talk about food being loaded and personal issue! It is so hard to talk about and really everyone has their right to experiment with what they think will work best for them. We are all on this journey . . . It’s as if we are discovering for the next generation how to really eat again. We are the trial and error that previous generations and cultures figured out long before us! I hope your post again with us next Friday!

Oops! Sorry – I posted my Bean Salad today not remember that I had already shared it with you last week (aargh… trying to do too many things at once!) You can take it down if you want… and I added a new recipe instead… Penne with Cauliflower and Capers. (Mom is now off to fix more mistakes
)

It’s ok, Lisa. That may be others that didn’t see it last week, eh? No worries.

I posted today on a giveaway that Larabar is doing. If you haven’t heard of or tried Larabar, they make bars with less than nine ingredients, all of which you can pronounce, and they use a lot of organic ingredients too. I don’t get anything for promoting it, I just like the company and wanted to spread the word.

Perfectly appropriate. Thanks Suzy. I actually heard of Larabars and had to check them out after you posted. Generally, I stay away from anything packaged, but these look like they fit a real food lifestyle. Thanks for posting it for us! I have seen some homemade versions of Larabars that will help save some moolah too. I understand Larabars can be pricey if eaten frequently.

LOL. That cumin video. I just want everyone to know I did that video when I was sick and I posted it thinking “two people in the entire universe will see it” and here it is.
I DO want to hear updates about your skin. I think that is awesome.

The cumin video was great, Amanda. Thanks for sharing it! I will do an update on my skin soon.
